I been watching cable TV a lot lately it help me not to get bored while waiting to move back to Davao City hopefully this march. I like to watch some programs specially documentary in National Geographic Channel, Life style network, Bio, History Channel and Travel Network, by watching those programs and each episodes I learn a lot and give me some fresh information about some sort of things I feel like I’m travelling while lying on my bed and watching TV. One of the programs catches my attention is the history of Germany and how they stand after the war, and also the history of the 2nd world war and how countries survive after the horror and how people work together to be successful again. After I watch the show I was amaze and there so many answer pop up in my mind to my many questions seems there is no answer.
I live in the Philippines and as far as I know Philippines was the rice capital in Asia before and it was one of the riches country in terms of agriculture. But now after many years many people in the Philippines suffered in hunger with very low salary and no sufficient jobs for everyone. Sometimes I ask myself why these things happened to us. Why do many Pilipino people work so hard and still not getting the word called successful? Why there some Pilipino people who cheats others for living, they scam and even kill somebody just to have money for food to their family who just eat 2 times a day or even 1 times a day.
I always encounter many people who cheat me they don’t even know that I already notice there plan but sometimes I don’t mind them I just go with the flow. Like in the Market when I buy meat sometimes I notice; if they don’t cheat me with the gage they cheat me by putting lots of bones or bunch of fat in the gage, instead buying the lean meat for my recipe I ended get almost half kilo of bones that cost me a price of a lean fat less and bone less meat. Not only in the market or in the mall or when you buy something in the street, you also encounter some people using internet to cheat other people. Sad to say many of the cheater in the cyber space is a Pilipino or many of them is younger than 25. In the cyber space I also notice that online prostitution is rampant and it a big business to others, I heard that there are some young Filipino gets thousand a day just showing up the net and get naked. Shameful but reality and even some parents of these cyber prostitute don’t know, no wonder there are many young people suffered sexual transmitted disease or even aids but do our government people do something to control the problem or they are just busy to get some fund and spend it for their own? What will happen to the saying that the youth is the hope of our father land if the minds of the youth already corrupt because our elders show them bad examples? And how the youth are a better person if they only see is there family in hunger and if people around them cheat each other. And even the media show some bad programs that can influence the youth.
I am from Compostela Valley but I live in Davao City and now I move here in Legazpi City and because I love to travel I also learn people’s culture and attitudes sometimes it helps me to blend in, but each place I visited I always have bad and good experiences with people, one thing I Like Legazpi City is that people here is very talented and they love arts so much. They are best cook and they are fighter. They still strong even there are so many trials come in their way. They are simple yet beautiful people and very religious but beside that many of them has what they called crab mentality they want to receive and receive but hard for them to give. And very jealous people and most of them is Opportunist they can be good and a best friend if you have something to offer them. I meet lots of friends but only few of them I consider as my real friend who is not Opportunist.
I work in a restaurant here in Legazpi I have a boss who is very charming yet very liar, when you listen to his speech he already take you in heaven, like he bring you in Thailand or parish seems like he is the worse liar I ever meet in my entire life but for almost 1year and half years still he never give me the rest of my salary. He always say tomorrow but his tomorrow never ends he even used and pawn his friends car and promise to pay but until now he never pay it. His friend was very kind gentle honest person, I mean he wait and wait and never get tired of expecting but my boss just charming and always say that the bank is close, the bank not allowed him to get the rest of the money wait until next month and blah blah blah.
Why people going crazy cheat someone just to survive. But somehow I understand because many of us don’t have choice but to do their best to live and experience what feel like to be successful and to get out of getting hunger. No Job, No Opportunities, No Education because it’s too expensive and the root of this problem is Corruptions made by those people who work in the Government, all the problems we see is not just cause by one person or a leader, not just the president or the mayor but also those people who is selfish who has the power to turn justice upside down.
When our leaders used our country’s money in a proper way us Pilipino will have a good future, there will be a job for us and those kids who work in the internet looking for a foreigner to support them they will have a job to support themselves and they will be in school, those poor will have livelihood trainings so our country will not get furniture and crafts in other country instead we are the one will supply them. The farmers will plant again rice by the support of our government and after that we will never have a problem of shortage of rice, we will never get fruits and vegetable from other country because of the support of the government we can get cheap food and so we can save money for shelter and for our future. It is sound impossible; but when our leaders do their job it will be possible. It will not work over night but step by step this will be happen
Election is near; months from now we will choose leader that we think it deserves. It’s in our hand the success for our country, if we like to live still in poverty or change it. Choosing leader is not just because he is popular, or because he was poor before or because he is rich. Or because he is smart; Us people should learn from our mistakes be smart to choose what we like. Just like giving our future to someone will you give it to someone who does not deserve? I don’t believe that youth is the hope of our father land but i do believe that all of us the hope of our father land, you may be young or old. Just like some countries in the world they work together and help each other. They have leaders who are not selfish yet they have leaders who look for his people. We are not them but we can be like them.
